Aloo Anardana Raita is a easy and delicious side dish or Gluten Free Raita made with Potato and Pomegranate pearls. Served with One Pot meals or Biryani / Pulav or even eaten as a meal by itself. With using Sendha Namak (fasting salt) in place of normal salt, this can become a Fasting Dish for Navratri too.

The magic of Raita (or simply put, veggies / fruits in a yoghurt sauce) is a healthy addition to a meal, whether you serve it as a side to Pulav / Biryani or simply make an extra dish for unexpected guests. In Summers, it can also serve as a whole meal by itself. My elder one prefers to eat raita that way – as a snack in between meals.

During Summers, we make a lot of Raita (or Thayir Pachadi as it is known in Tamil) with our everyday meals. Like:

We also enjoy yoghurt in other forms like

My mother makes anardana raita frequently but we never thought of adding potato which makes it more substantial. As you mentioned, I can eat this bowl of raita on it’s own.

I do make potato raita but never thought of adding pomegranate, though I use these in other couple of raitas. Pomegranate add a delicious crunch to raita.

I have never added pom seeds to raita and this one sounds amazing. My kids will definitely lick it off the bowl. Visual appeal is excellent too.
