What is Amrud ka Panha/Amrud Panna?
Amrud ka Panha / Panna is a delicious Summer beverage made with pink guava pulp and basic seasonings. Served chilled.
I first tasted this drink – Amrud Panna / Guava Punch – at a popular all-vegetarian restaurant called Soam in South Mumbai, 3 years ago when I first wrote this post (now almost 7 years ago). May be it was the humidity of Mumbai’s pre monsoon showers, may be it was the novelty of the drink itself , or I was just plain thirsty — but something about it was just magical.
I took 2 helpings to finally get the taste embedded in my palate … Then waited till the right season when red guava (aka Allahabad variety) came to the market. And almost forgot about it that I had even clicked pics at home with a 3 month old baby in tow (now that toddler can make it by herself :-)) I love how food connects incidents spanned across time, and you wonder how time just slips by, even without us making any effort. Those pics got me nostalgic and am keen for this year’s season of red guavas to hit the stores. Till then enjoy this wonderful drink – pure n perfect . Just a few ingredients and you are set to go !
